Export Astm 5130 Steel Coil Production Process - China

The production process for ASTM 5130 steel coil primarily includes steelmaking, continuous casting, hot rolling, pickling, annealing, cold rolling (if required), cutting and coiling, inspection, and packaging.

1 - Steelmaking: Raw materials are first prepared.

Iron ore is crushed and ground, then smelted in a blast furnace along with coke and limestone to produce molten iron.

After deslagging and tempering, the molten iron is transferred to a converter or electric furnace for steelmaking.

During the steelmaking process, alloying elements are added and the temperature and chemical composition are precisely controlled to ensure that the molten steel meets the composition requirements of ASTM 5130 steel coil, such as a certain amount of carbon, silicon, manganese, and chromium.

2 - Continuous Casting: After steelmaking, the molten steel is poured into the mold of a continuous casting machine.

Cooling and solidification transform the molten steel into long, ingot-like ingots.

The continuous casting machine must evenly fill the molten steel and control the cooling rate to ensure the ingots meet quality and dimensions.

3 - Hot Rolling: The cast steel enters the hot rolling mill, where it is first heated to 1200-1500°C.

After exiting the furnace, it undergoes high-pressure water descaling to remove surface oxide scale.

The descaled steel then enters the roughing mill, where it is rolled at a temperature of 900-1000°C.

It then enters the finishing mill, where it is rolled at a temperature of 700-850°C.

After rolling, it undergoes rapid laminar cooling and, when the temperature drops to 300-500°C, is coiled to form hot-rolled coils.

4 - Pickling: After hot rolling, ASTM 5130 steel coils typically have some oxides and rust on their surface.

Pickling is performed by immersing them in an acidic solution to remove these oxides and impurities, thereby improving the surface quality.

5 - Annealing: After pickling, the ASTM 5130 steel coils may undergo annealing at a temperature of 450-560°C for 5-8 hours to eliminate internal stresses and improve the material's toughness and workability.
