SCr420 steel plate (Japanese JIS standard) is a low alloy carburizing steel, equivalent to 20Cr of China's GB standard or 5120 of the US AISI standard.

It is widely used in mechanical engineering parts that require high surface hardness and high core toughness.

Typical mechanical engineering applications

(1) Gear parts

Application scenarios: automotive gearbox gears, industrial reducer gears, agricultural machinery transmission gears.

- **Reason**:

- The high surface hardness (HRC 58+) of SCr420 steel plate after carburizing resists contact fatigue and wear.

- The core toughness (HRC 30 or so) withstands impact loads.

(2) Shaft and bearing parts

Application scenarios: transmission shafts, camshafts, outer rings of needle bearings.

- **Reason**:

- SCr420 steel plate has high cyclic fatigue strength (compressive stress of the carburized layer inhibits crack propagation).

(3) Wear-resistant parts of engineering machinery

Application scenarios: excavator pins, hydraulic motor rotors, crawler chain links.

- **Reason**:

- Resistant to sand wear and impact loads.
