Iso 20nicrmo2 Alloy Pipe Hardening And Tempering Process - China

Hardening: The hardening of ISO 20NiCrMo2 alloy pipe is completed by oil quenching at 1675F.

Carburizing is done in the same 1650F-1700F range within the carburizing range, either "wrapped" or in an ambient environment.

Thin profiles are then oil-quenched, or heavier (over 3/4) furnace-cooled profiles are furnace-cooled.

For thick profiles, reheating at 1575F after carburizing will improve the alloy's shell and core properties.

Tempering: Tempering is typically used to relieve stress from the hardening process, which will improve the toughness of the shell and core, while the core strength and surface hardness will only decrease slightly.

As required, ISO 20NiCrMo2 alloy pipe is heated to 150°C-200°C and held for a sufficient time until the temperature is uniform across the entire cross-section.

The section is immersed for 1-2 hours per 25mm section, and then cooled in static air.
