EN 100Cr6 material (corresponding to DIN 100Cr6 and AISI 52100) is a typical high-carbon chromium bearing steel.

Due to its high carbon content (approximately 1.00%) and medium chromium content (approximately 1.50%), its room temperature microstructure is primarily pearlite and network carbides.

Pretreatment is required before cold working to improve plasticity.

During cold working, process parameters must be controlled to prevent cracking.

Finally, heat treatment is required to achieve performance requirements.

The following is a complete cold working process: 1 - Core Pretreatment Before Cold Working: Improving Cutting and Cold Deformability After hot rolling/forging, the original microstructure of EN 100Cr6 material consists of coarse lamellar pearlite and network carbides.

This results in high hardness (approximately 220-280 HBW) and poor plasticity.

Direct cold working can easily lead to die wear or workpiece cracking.

Therefore, pretreatment is essential, with spheroidizing annealing being the core process.

2 - Cold Rolling: Suitable for producing thin-gauge, high-precision materials from sheet/strip.

Cold rolling is primarily used to convert annealed hot-rolled sheet/strip into thin, high-flatness cold-rolled sheet/strip for manufacturing parts such as small bearing cages and precision gaskets.

The core logic of the cold working process for EN 100Cr6 material is "pretreatment to improve plasticity → cold working to achieve precision → post-processing to ensure performance.

" Spheroidizing annealing is a prerequisite (to address the poor plasticity of high-carbon steel).
