Induction heating surface quenching

20Х steel uses electromagnetic induction to quickly heat and quench the surface of the workpiece, while the core maintains the original structure (such as annealing or tempering state), with high efficiency and small deformation.

Key points of the process:

Pretreatment: 20Х steel must be tempered (quenching + high temperature tempering) first to obtain good toughness in the core (tensile strength 800-1000 MPa).

Induction heating: The frequency is selected according to the depth of the infiltration layer (high frequency corresponds to a shallow infiltration layer of 0.5-2 mm, and medium frequency corresponds to a deep infiltration layer of 2-5 mm), the heating temperature is 850-900℃, and the time is from a few seconds to tens of seconds.

Quenching + tempering: water spray or oil cooling quenching, the surface forms martensite, and then tempered at 200-250℃, the surface hardness is 50-58 HRC, and the core maintains toughness.

Advantages: 20X steel is suitable for mass production, has a smooth transition zone between the surface and the core, and has good impact resistance.
