JIS SKD1 material is a high-carbon, high-chromium ledeburitic steel, widely used in cold work dies.

This steel exhibits good hardenability, wear resistance, and hot workability.

Carbides are well-distributed within the steel, making it suitable for manufacturing various cold work dies with complex shapes and demanding operating conditions, such as cold stamping punches, thread rolling dies, wire drawing dies, die dies, metallurgical powder dies, woodworking cutting tools, cold-cutting shears, drill bushings, and gauges.
