GB Cr5Mo1V die steel, a cold work die steel under the GB standard, is renowned for its high hardness.

Typical characteristics include: 1 - High hardness after heat treatment: After conventional quenching and low-temperature tempering, the hardness can reach HRC 57–62, and under some process conditions, even ≥HRC 60 - 2 - Deep hardening through air quenching: GB Cr5Mo1V die steel is an air-hardening steel, which can achieve high hardness under air cooling conditions, reducing the risk of deformation.

It is suitable for dies with complex shapes and high dimensional accuracy requirements.

3 - Strong hardness retention: Under high load and high friction conditions, the surface hardness remains stable.

Its wear resistance is between that of high-carbon oil-quenched and high-carbon high-chromium die steels, with superior toughness.
