ISO X210CrW12 is a high-wear-resistance chromium steel—specifically, a high-carbon, high-chromium ledeburitic cold-work die steel.

It contains high levels of carbon (2.0%–2.3%) and approximately 12% chromium, along with tungsten.

Its as-cast microstructure resembles that of high-speed steel, characterized by the formation of an extensive eutectic carbide network during solidification (with a carbide content of around 20% and a eutectic temperature of approximately 1150°C).

Although forging breaks down the carbides to some extent, they remain distributed in bands, networks, blocks, or clusters along the rolling direction; the degree of segregation intensifies as the steel diameter increases.

ISO X210CrW12 steel is characterized by high hardenability, high surface hardness, excellent strength and toughness, superior wear resistance (3–4 times that of ordinary low-alloy tool steels), and minimal dimensional change during quenching.

However, the steel exhibits relatively poor impact toughness.
