Export Jis Skd2 Tool Steel Polishing Process - China

JIS SKD2 tool steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold-work die steel that achieves a hardness of 60–64 HRC after heat treatment.

Due to its high hardness and the presence of a significant volume of hard carbides, it presents considerable challenges during polishing and is prone to defects such as "orange peel" texture, pinholes, and pitting.

Standard Polishing Process for JIS SKD2 Tool Steel (Progressive Stages):

1 - Coarse Polishing (Removal of machining marks and leveling)

2 - Semi-Fine Polishing (Refinement using sandpaper)

3 - Fine Polishing (Mirror-finish surfacing)

4 - Super-Fine Polishing By adhering to this process, JIS SKD2 tool steel can be consistently polished to a surface roughness of Ra 0.02–0.025 μm (an A1 mirror finish).

This makes it ideally suited for applications requiring both high surface finish and exceptional wear resistance—such as precision cold-stamping dies, blanking dies, thread rolling dies, and precision measuring instruments.
