Precautions for Using JIS SKD2 Material

Toughness Limitations: JIS SKD2 material possesses relatively low impact toughness and is therefore unsuitable for applications involving heavy impact loads.

If higher toughness is required, alternative grades such as SKD11 or H13 should be considered.

Operating Temperature: This material is suitable for operating conditions ranging from room temperature up to 400°C; caution is advised for high-temperature applications.

Machining Recommendations: It is recommended to perform rough machining in the annealed state (≤255 HBW) and to carry out finish machining after heat treatment.

Surface Treatment: If surface treatments—such as PVD coating or nitriding—are to be applied, ensure that the surface is clean and free of scale to enhance coating adhesion.
