W6Mo5Cr4V2 high speed steel is the most widely used tungsten molybdenum type HSS grade, equivalent to AISI M2 and DIN 1.3343 - It offers an excellent balance of hardness, wear resistance and toughness, making it the first choice for cutting tools working at high speeds.

Chemical Composition (typical):

C 0.80-0.90% | W 5.5-6.75% | Mo 4.5-5.5% | Cr 3.8-4.4% | V 1.75-2.2% Key Properties:

- Hardness after heat treatment: 63-65 HRC

- Excellent red hardness, keeps cutting ability at working temperatures up to 600 C

- Good wear resistance from uniform vanadium carbides

- Better toughness than tungsten type T1 grade Typical Applications:

- Twist drills, end mills, reamers and taps

- Saw blades, band saw strips and circular saws

- Lathe tools, milling cutters and form tools

- Cold work punches and dies requiring high wear resistance Heat Treatment Guide:

- Soft annealing: 850-870 C, hardness max 255 HB

- Hardening: 1210-1230 C, quench in oil, salt bath or vacuum

- Tempering: three times at 540-560 C, final hardness 63-65 HRC Supply Range:

- Round bar 8-300mm, peeled or black surface

- Flat bar, plate and block cut to size

- Annealed or customer specified condition
