SKH51 (JIS) is the tungsten-molybdenum M2-type high-speed steel increasingly chosen as punch and die material where tools must resist both wear and the impact of repeated striking.

Its balance of hardness, toughness and red hardness makes it suitable for cold heading, coining, extrusion and fine-blanking punches that work hardened materials all day.

Songshun supplies SKH51 punch stock in round bar, flat bar and pre-machined blank form, produced on hydraulic forging presses in the 3500-7000 ton range that refine the grain and carbide structure.

Annealed material is easy to machine to the punch profile before final heat treatment to roughly 62-65 HRC.

We keep a large stock across our steel range and can provide cut-to-length, rough-machined or near-net punch blanks, which shortens the customer's own machining and heat-treatment lead time.

Consistent hardness and straightness are checked before shipment.

Typical uses are punches and dies for fastener heading, powder compaction, fine blanking, cold forging and stamping, as well as shear blades and wear inserts in automated press lines.
