W6Mo5Cr4V2 is the Chinese GB national standard grade that corresponds to AISI M2 and JIS SKH51, a tungsten-molybdenum high-speed steel built on a balanced mix of tungsten, molybdenum, chromium and vanadium.

The grade keeps its hardness and cutting edge at the high temperatures generated during metal removal, which is why it is the backbone of modern cutting tools.

After quenching and multiple tempering cycles W6Mo5Cr4V2 reaches about 63-66 HRC with the red hardness and toughness needed for demanding service.

The carefully controlled carbide pattern also gives the machinability and grindability that workshops rely on before final heat treatment.
