JIS SKH51 is the Japanese designation for the tungsten-molybdenum high-speed steel broadly matching AISI M2 and Chinese W6Mo5Cr4V2 - With its balanced alloy content, SKH51 offers a strong combination of hardness, wear resistance and red hardness for cutting tools that run at elevated speeds.

The grade is supplied by Songshun in the annealed condition for machining into drills, end mills, taps, reamers, broaches and other cutting tools.

After proper heat treatment it reaches typical working hardness around 62-66 HRC and maintains that edge stability during high-speed metal removal.

We keep SKH51 HSS in round bar and plate forms, with ground, peeled or black surface options.

Diameter and thickness tolerances can be selected to suit precision grinding or rough machining stages, and cut-to-length service reduces material waste in the workshop.

Typical applications span high-speed cutting tools, precision bits for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, tool inserts, and wear parts where a hard, tough microstructure is required under cyclic loading.
