H13 is a 5% chromium hot-work alloy steel whose typical chemistry is about 0.37% C, 5.0% Cr, 1.3% Mo, 1.0% V with balanced silicon and manganese.

Chromium gives hardenability and oxidation resistance, molybdenum keeps the structure stable at elevated temperature, and vanadium refines the grain and improves wear resistance.

The combination is what lets H13 hold hardness under repeated heating and cooling.

The grade is recognized under many standards, which makes it easy to specify worldwide: AISI H13, DIN 1.2344 / X40CrMoV5-1, JIS SKD61, GB 4Cr5MoSiV1 and GOST 4Kh5MF1S are common equivalents.

Knowing the cross-reference helps buyers match existing drawings to available stock without redesigning the tool.

In practice H13 alloy steel is used for aluminum and magnesium die-casting dies, hot forging and extrusion tooling, and inserts exposed to cyclic heat.

We supply it as forged and pre-machined rounds, flats and blocks with mill certificate and optional ultrasonic testing, cut and heat-treated to standard hardness ranges or to customer specification.
