H13 Hot Work Tool Steel Properties And Supply For Die Applications - China

H13 is the AISI designation for a 5% chromium hot-work tool steel, also known as 4Cr5MoSiV1, DIN 1.2344 and X40CrMoV5-1 - It is the most widely used hot-work grade because it offers an excellent balance of hardness, toughness and resistance to heat checking, which lets dies run longer between maintenance.

In service H13 is chosen for aluminum and magnesium die casting dies, hot forging and extrusion tooling, and inserts that see cyclic heating.

Its deep hardenability supports large sections, while the vanadium and molybdenum content keeps the structure stable at elevated temperature.

With proper pre-hardening and nitriding the surface can resist wear and soldering.

We supply H13 as forged and pre-machined blocks, rounds and flats, with mill certificate and optional ultrasonic testing.

Stock sizes are cut and heat-treated to common hardness ranges, and custom pre-machining is available to reduce customer lead time.

Consistent composition and straightness are controlled before dispatch.
