4Х5МФ1С (GOST 5950) is a Russian-standard hot-work tool steel, chemically equivalent to AISI H13 / DIN 1.2344 / JIS SKD61.

Chemical composition (typical, %):

- C: 0.32-0.40, Si: 0.80-1.20, Mn: 0.20-0.50

- Cr: 4.50-5.50, Mo: 0.80-1.20, V: 0.80-1.15

- S ≤ 0.030, P ≤ 0.030

Key properties:

- Good hot strength and thermal fatigue resistance up to 550-600 °C working temperature

- Excellent hardenability; uniform hardness after quenching in oil or vacuum furnaces

- High toughness and polishing performance, low distortion during heat treatment

- Delivered annealed, hardness ≤ 229 HB; quench 1000-1050 °C, temper 550-650 °C, typically 45-52 HRC after tempering

Available dimensions:

- Round bars: diameter 16-500 mm

- Flat bars / plates / blocks: thickness 10-400 mm, cut-to-size on request

- Machinery-cut blanks and pre-machined / pre-hardened blocks available

Applications:

- Aluminum and zinc die-casting dies and cores

- Hot forging dies, punches and piercing tools

- Hot shear blades, extrusion tooling, mandrels and rams

- Plastic mould requiring high hardness and wear resistance
