Gost 20him Alloy Steel Coating Surface Treatment - China

GOST 20ХНM alloy steel is a chromium-nickel-molybdenu m alloy structural steel under Russian standards.

It possesses high strength, high toughness, and good wear resistance, and is often used to manufacture critical components subjected to vibration and dynamic loads.

1 - Hot-dip galvanizing This process involves immersing GOST 20ХНM alloy steel in molten zinc at 460-480°C, forming a 40-70 micrometer-thick zinc coating on the surface.

The zinc layer provides long-term corrosion protection to the substrate through sacrificial anodic action, making it suitable for general structural components in outdoor or humid environments.

2 - Ion nickel plating As a strengthening process suitable for chromium-molybdenum alloy steels, a 0.2-1 mm thick nickel plating layer can be formed on the surface of 20ХНM steel using a specific ion nickel plating process.

3 - Hard Chrome Plating A hard chrome layer is deposited on the surface of GOST 20XMN alloy steel using an electroplating process.

The coating hardness can reach HV800 or higher, significantly improving the wear resistance and scratch resistance of the steel surface, while also providing some corrosion resistance.

This process can also be used to repair worn 20XMN shafts, gears, and other components, filling surface defects with a chrome plating layer of up to 2mm.

However, it should be noted that the chrome plating layer contains a certain amount of internal stress; therefore, the steel parts must undergo thorough degreasing and pickling pretreatment before electroplating to prevent the plating from peeling off.
