Astm M2 Bright Bar With Tight Tolerance Surface Finish For Precision Tool Manufacturing - China

ASTM M2 bright bar refers to AISI M2 high speed steel bar stock that has been machined to smooth, dimensionally accurate surfaces, fully spheroidized annealed and ready for direct CNC production.

For tool manufacturers running automatic lathes, centerless grinders and CNC machining centers, starting from bright bar instead of black hot rolled bar eliminates descaling, reduces tool wear and guarantees a clean surface for coating or plating.

Brightness levels and processes used for our ASTM M2 bright bar:

1 - Peeled (turned) bar: whole outer layer removed on a peeling lathe, giving an h10 tolerance with a smooth machined finish and no decarburized skin.

2 - Ground bar: peeled bar further processed on centerless grinders to h7 or h8 tolerance with Ra 0.8 or better surface roughness.

3 - Drawn bar (smaller diameters): cold drawn through carbide dies with stress relief annealing, best for automatic screw machine feed stock.

Standard dimension program of ASTM M2 bright bar:

- Peeled bar: 12mm to 200mm diameter, lengths 3-5.5m

- Ground bar: 3mm to 60mm diameter, straightness within 0.3mm per meter

- Drawn bar: 2mm to 20mm diameter, coil or straight lengths

- Chamfered ends and sawn-to-length blanks on request Certification and inspection per delivery:

- EN 10204 3.1 certificate with full chemical analysis per heat, demonstrating compliance with ASTM A600 composition limits for M2

- Annealed hardness max 255 HB with spheroidized carbide microstructure rating

- UT per SEP 1921 from 20mm up; magnetic particle check on request
