Carburizing and Quenching: After carburizing at 930℃, DIN 21NiCrMo2 steel achieves a composite structure of high surface hardness (HRC58~62) and core toughness (HB197~241) through oil quenching or water quenching.

Typical Applications: Automotive gears, differential bevel gears, with a carburized layer depth of 0.8~1.2mm and a contact fatigue life exceeding 10⁷ cycles.

Tempering Treatment: Quenching at 850℃ followed by tempering at 600℃ gives DIN 21NiCrMo2 steel a tempered sorbite structure, combining strength and toughness.

Typical Case: Planetary gears in wind turbine gearboxes, operating continuously for 10 years at 10m/s wind speeds without crack propagation.

Surface Strengthening: Nitriding treatment (560℃×20h) can increase the surface hardness of DIN 21NiCrMo2 steel to HRC65 while maintaining core toughness, suitable for precision components such as molds and hydraulic cylinders.
