Phenol-formaldehyde resin (PF) is a polymer made by polycondensation of phenolic compounds and aldehyde compounds.

It is one of the three major synthetic thermosetting resins.

Performance characteristics

Good high temperature performance: The cured phenolic resin has excellent heat resistance due to its aromatic ring structure and high crosslinking density.

Generally, at 200°C, the heat resistance of phenolic resin is good.

After long-term use at 180°C, it can still maintain its structural integrity and dimensional stability.

High residual carbon rate: When it exceeds 300°C, phenolic resin will decompose and gradually carbonize to form residues, and its residual amount is as high as 60%.

At a temperature of 800-2500°C, phenolic resin will generate a layer of carbonized material on the surface of the material.

Low smoke and low toxicity: PF3041 Open Phenolic Resin is mainly composed of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen.

The combustion products are less toxic.

It is easy to form a high-carbon foam structure during the combustion process.

It has a good thermal insulation effect and can prevent internal combustion.

Radiation resistance: The radiation resistance itself is poor, but after being reinforced with glass or asbestos, it can become a good radiation-resistant synthetic material.
