1.2363 steel can be machined in the annealed state using turning, milling, and drilling, but due to its high content of hard carbides, its machinability is poor and tool wear is rapid.

Grinding: After heat treatment, W-Nr.

1.2363 steel must be precision ground to achieve the final tooth profile and dimensional accuracy.

Care must be taken to control grinding heat to prevent grinding cracks.

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM): This is possible, but a "white layer" (re-hardened layer) will form on the machined surface, which must be removed by subsequent fine grinding or polishing; otherwise, it will become a source of cracks.

Surface Treatment: PVD coatings (such as TiN, CrN) can be applied to further reduce the coefficient of friction and improve anti-galling properties.
