    4340 alloy steel is a medium carbon low alloy steel belonging to the category of nickel-chromium-molybdenu m steel, with high strength, high toughness and good hardenability.

    It is widely used in aerospace, automotive, military, oil and gas and other industries.

    Mechanical properties of 4340 alloy steel

    - Tensile strength: ≥980 MPa, which can reach 930 - 1080 MPa after quenching and tempering.

    - Yield strength: ≥835 MPa.

    - Elongation: ≥12%.

    - Impact toughness: impact energy ≥78 J.

    Heat treatment process of 4340 alloy steel

    Annealing: heat to 830 - 860°C, keep for a period of time and then furnace cool.

    Normalizing: heat to 845 - 900°C and air cool.

    Quenching: heat to 800 - 845°C, oil quench or quench in molten salt at 200 - 210°C.

    Tempering: Keep at 200 - 650°C for at least half an hour, air cool.
