BH11 steel belongs to the 5%Cr series hot work die steel.

The ESR electroslag remelted material has a uniform microstructure and excellent polishing potential; its conventional quenching hardness is 48–52 HRC.

The greatest polishing risk: Localized overheating → orange peel texture, surface pitting, and pinholes caused by incomplete removal of the EDM white layer.

Standard Mechanical Polishing Process Flow Route A: Ordinary Surface Polishing (Ra 0.2~0.4μm, standard die requirements)

Oilstone rough grinding → Gradual sandpaper grinding → Diamond paste pre-polishing Oilstone Sequence (kerosene lubrication)

180# → 240# → 320# → 400# → 600# → 800# Technique: Cross-grinding, completely eliminating the previous grit before upgrading the grit Wet Sandpaper Sequence (SiC silicon carbide sandpaper, kerosene/cutting fluid lubrication)
