Excellent air-hardening properties: As an air-hardening steel, BS BA2 steel does not require special media such as oil cooling during the cooling process.

It exhibits minimal deformation during quenching and high dimensional stability, reducing the difficulty of post-machining correction and making it suitable for manufacturing molds with high dimensional accuracy requirements.

Moderate wear resistance: The wear resistance of BS BA2 steel falls between that of oil-quenched mold steel and high-carbon chromium wear-resistant mold steel.

It meets the wear resistance requirements under most cold working conditions, balancing wear resistance and toughness to avoid mold damage caused by excessive performance in any single area.

Heat treatment process: Standard heat treatment is crucial for the optimal performance of BS BA2 steel, and specific procedures have clearly defined requirements.

Annealing temperature is 850-870℃, after holding at this temperature, cool down to 730-750℃ and hold for another 4-6 hours, then slowly cool in the furnace to below 600℃ and air cool.

The hardness after annealing is ≤241HBW.

Quenching requires preheating to 790-820℃, then heating to 950-980℃ and holding, followed by air cooling.

Tempering temperature is usually 150-350℃, holding for 1 hour per 25mm section.

Double tempering is recommended.

The hardness after tempering is ≥735HV.
