After quenching and tempering or normalizing and tempering, its yield strength is generally ≥590 MPa, tensile strength ≥785 MPa, and its low-temperature impact energy at -40℃ is ≥47 J.

It also possesses high hardness, high toughness, and good weldability.

In heavy-load, abrasive-wear conditions such as those in port machinery, mining equipment, and pressure vessels, its wear life can be 2 to 3 times that of ordinary 16Mn plates.

With surface hardening or nitriding treatment, its service life can be further extended.
