BS 735A50 spring steel is a chromium-vanadium alloy spring steel under the British Standard Classification (BSC).

Thanks to the grain-refining effect of vanadium, it combines high hardness, high strength, and good toughness, making it suitable for high-load applications.

1 - The precise chemical composition of this steel lays the foundation for its high hardness and excellent mechanical properties.

2 - Mechanical and hardness-related properties: Its tensile strength ≥1274MPa, yield strength ≥1127MPa.

After oil quenching or air quenching at 850-880℃, followed by tempering at 200-500℃, the hardness can be significantly increased, meeting the hardness requirements under high-load conditions.

Furthermore, it possesses good plasticity, with elongation δ5 ≥10% and reduction of area ψ ≥40%, preventing brittle fracture under stress.

3 - Typical application scenarios: Due to its high hardness and high load adaptability, BS 735A50 spring steel is often used to manufacture important spring parts, especially suitable for high-load springs with large cross-sections, as well as valve springs, piston springs, safety valve springs, etc.
