Heat treatment hardness improvement process

1 - Preheating treatment process

Preheating temperature: 550~650℃

Hot-keeping time: 1 hour

Purpose: Eliminate internal stress, make the structure uniform, and lay the foundation for subsequent heat treatment 2 - Quenching process (key hardness improvement link)

Quenching temperature: 860℃ (standard)

Heating range: 820~880℃

Hot-keeping time: Determined according to the thickness of the section, generally 1~1.5 hours for every 25mm thickness

Cooling method: Rapid cooling to room temperature 3 - Tempering process (hardness adjustment link)

Low-temperature tempering (ultra-high hardness)

- **Tempering temperature**: 200~320℃

- **Hot-keeping time**: 2~4 hours

- **Cooling method**: Air cooling or oil cooling

- **Hardness range**: 53~54 HRC

- **Application**: Parts requiring extremely high hardness Medium-temperature tempering (strength-toughness balance)

- **Tempering temperature**: 460℃ (Standard)

- **Hot-holding time**: 2 hours

- **Cooling method**: Oil cooling

- **Hardness range**: 48~52 HRC

- **Application**: Parts with high comprehensive performance requirements High temperature tempering (toughness first)

- **Tempering temperature**: 500~650℃

- **Hot-holding time**: 2~3 hours

- **Cooling method**: Air cooling

- **Hardness range**: 35~45 HRC

- **Application**: Parts with large impact loads Through the above process control, A51453 steel (45CrNiMoVA) can obtain excellent hardness performance and meet various high-strength application requirements.
