Cold Work Tool Steel Aisi A2 Material Supply - China

AISI A2 material is a high-toughness, wear-resistant cold-work tool steel, corresponding to the Chinese GB standard grade Cr5Mo1V and the American AISI/SAE standard grade A2 - It is also known by other names such as XW-10 and SKD12 - This material primarily consists of carbon (0.95-1.05%) and chromium (4.75-5.00%), with the addition of molybdenum and vanadium.

It features uniform carbide distribution and low air-hardening deformation, achieving a hardness of 57-62 HRC after heat treatment.

Compared to SKD11 mold steel, AISI A2 material offers approximately twice the toughness, superior machinability and grindability, and significantly reduces residual stress from wire cutting after high-temperature tempering, thus suppressing deformation in precision molds.

This steel is suitable for applications such as blanking dies, cold forging dies, drawing dies, and wear-resistant plastic molding dies.

Low-temperature tempering below 200°C balances hardness and impact toughness, while tempering above 400°C results in significant brittleness.

The material has a hardness of HB230-250 in its as-delivered state, and is typically supplied in annealed or cold-drawn condition.
