AISI D6 Cold Work Tool Steel is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold-work die steel.

Classified under the American AISI standard (and corresponding to the Chinese grade Cr12Mo1V1), it possesses exceptional wear resistance and compressive strength, making it suitable for heavy-duty stamping, precision blanking, and cold-work tooling applications.

Key Characteristics

Ultra-High Wear Resistance: With a carbon content of 1.4–1.6% and a chromium content of 11–13%, it achieves a hardness of 60–62 HRC.

High Compressive Strength: Ideal for applications involving high-stress blanking, cold heading, deep drawing, and similar demanding conditions.

Moderate Toughness: While slightly lower in toughness than D2 (SKD11), it offers superior wear resistance.

Good Heat Treatment Stability: Exhibits minimal distortion during quenching, making it highly suitable for the fabrication of precision molds.
