1.2344 steel is a high-quality hot work tool steel and is a high-quality, high-carbon alloyed tool steel.

1.2344 steel, on the other hand, is primarily used for forming extrusion dies.
Typical applications include aluminum, magnesium, zinc, copper and aluminum extrusion dies for casting molds, copper and brass extrusions for bushings, spindles, press pads, follower parts, shims, punching dies, dead dies, and engagement rings.
In addition, 1.2344 is used in the production of hot stamping and extrusion die forging, hot heading dies, jig dies, hot embossing, punching, and trimming tools.
Other applications include plastic molds, hot shear blades and hot extrusion dies.
