X40CrMoV 5-1 material is a European standard hot work tool steel widely used as die casting mold base steel.

As a chromium-molybdenum-vanad ium alloy steel, X40CrMoV 5-1 material delivers high toughness, excellent hardenability and strong resistance to thermal fatigue and heat checking.

It performs reliably at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for aluminum and magnesium die casting mold bases, hot forging dies and extrusion tooling.

Typical composition per EN 10027 H13 1.2344 family: C 0.40 percent, Cr 5.0 percent, Mo 1.3 percent, V 1.0 percent.

Supplied as forged bars and blocks, each order goes through our 9-step in-house quality inspection including XRF, OES, UT, hardness and straightness checks.

Custom sizes, grades and mill test certificates available on request.
