High End Alloy Steel Ks Scr440 Material Carburizing Treatment Technology - China

KS SCr440 material is a medium-carbon, low-alloy steel.

Pretreatment Before Carburizing

Cleaning: Load the KS SCr440 material into a dedicated rack and place it in a cleaning furnace.

Clean it with a cleaning solution at 85-90°C for 5-6 minutes to remove surface oil and dust.

Drying and Preheating: After cleaning, transfer the cleaned workpiece to a tempering furnace and maintain it at 410±10°C for 30-45 minutes for drying and preheating.

Carburizing Process

Carburizing Stage: Transfer the pretreated KS SCr440 material to the carburizing furnace, raise the temperature to 900-930°C, and control the carburizing potential between 0.98-1.03 for 4.5-5.5 hours.

Propane can be used as the carburizing agent and methanol as the diluent.

The carbon potential level can be controlled by adjusting the flow rates of both into the carburizing furnace.

Infrared or oxygen probes are used to monitor the carbon potential, and thermocouples are used to control the temperature.

Diffusion Stage: After the carburizing treatment is complete, maintain the carburizing furnace temperature to reduce the workpiece's carbon potential to 0.63-0.68, and begin the diffusion treatment for 5.5-7 hours.

Subsequent Processing

Temperature Averaging: Cool the carburizing furnace's heating chamber to 850±10°C and hold for 50-75 minutes.

Then, transfer the workpiece to the carburizing furnace's antechamber for a slow cooling period of 2-2.5 hours.

Remove from the furnace and air cool.

High-Temperature Tempering: Air-cool the KS SCr440 material to 50-70°C before transferring it to a tempering furnace for a high-temperature tempering period of 680±10°C for 5-6 hours.

The workpiece is then cooled to 580°C and removed from the furnace and placed in a slow cooling tank for slow cooling.
