ISC A20302 plate (corresponding to Grade D nickel alloy steel plate in the ASTM A203 standard; "ISC" may be a material identifier for a specific industry or company) is an alloy structural steel suitable for cryogenic pressure vessels.

Its performance design emphasizes high strength, good low-temperature toughness, and weldability.

Processing Properties

1 - Weldability:

Due to ISC A20302 plate's low carbon content (≤0.15%) and low sulfur and phosphorus impurities, it is less susceptible to hot cracking during welding.

Preheating (typically 80-150°C) is required before welding, followed by slow cooling and stress relief heat treatment (600-650°C) after welding to prevent cold cracking.

2 - Formability:

It exhibits good ductility at room temperature, allowing for cold working such as bending and stamping.

The hot working temperature range is 850-1100°C, and the microstructure is well-uniform after deformation.

3 - Heat Treatment Properties:

The commonly used process is "normalizing + tempering": normalizing (900-950°C with air cooling) refines the grain size, and tempering (600-700°C) eliminates internal stresses.

ISC A20302 plate achieves a ferrite + pearlite or tempered bainite structure, achieving a balance between strength and toughness.
