DIN 36CrNiMo4 steel belongs to alloy structural steel.

Its hot rolling process mainly includes the following steps: 1 - Heating of ingot: The cold ingot of continuous casting is sent into the heating furnace for heating, and the temperature of the heating and soaking section needs to be controlled at 1100-1250℃.

During the heating process, the temperature should be uniform and there should be enough holding time to improve segregation defects and avoid uneven deformation during subsequent rolling.

According to the actual situation, the temperature of the high temperature section can also be set to about 1180℃, and the rolling temperature can be controlled at about 1100℃.

2 - Rolling: During the rolling process, DIN 36CrNiMo4 steel is usually not controlled, that is, no water cooling is performed, so as to maintain a high rolling temperature, appropriately coarsen the grains, improve the stability of the austenite structure, and reduce the transformation amount of the residual austenite in the subsequent cooling process.

The rolling temperature is 1050-1200℃.

If the temperature is too high, decarburization will be aggravated; if the temperature is too low, it will lead to poor composition uniformity.

The final rolling temperature is controlled at 900-1000℃ to ensure the structure and performance of the steel.

3 - Cooling: DIN 36CrNiMo4 steel is cooled by air cooling after rolling.

Because water cooling after rolling will cause excessive thermal stress, resulting in severe bending of the rolled material.

For small-sized steel, especially carburized steel with a carbon content of about 0.2%, it can be cooled quickly at above 600℃, but care should be taken to avoid aggravating the banded structure; for forgings with larger cross-sections, measures should be taken to eliminate internal stress and prevent the appearance of white spots.
