Pultrusion is a continuous process using fiber reinforcements with thermosetting resin matrices.

Pre-selected reinforcement materials, such as fiberglass roving, mat, woven fabrics or stitched fabric, are drawn through a resin bath in which all material is thorougly impregnated with a liquid thermosetting resin.

Typical resins include polyesters, vinyl esters and phenolics.

The wet-out fiber is formed to the desired geometric shape and pulled into a heated steel die.

Once inside the die, the resin cure is initiated by controlling precise elevated temperature.

The laminate solidifies in the exact cavity shape of the die, as it is continuously pulled by the pultrusion machine.

Most any constant cross-section part can be pultruded.

Then the product is passed through the mold by the puller clamping mechanism and cut into the required length with a saw.

1 - Corrosion resistance

2 - Lightweight and high strength

The glass fiber content of the pultruded profile is higher than other composite material forming processes, so the longitudinal strength is quite high, which is equivalent to that of steel.

The density of pultruded profile is only about one-fourth of that of steel, so the specific strength is much higher than that of steel.

The modulus of pultruded profile is much higher.
