DIN 42CrMo4 materials is a commonly used alloy structural steel.

Its quenching and tempering process is to obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties, including high strength, high toughness and good wear resistance.

The following is the general process flow of quenching and tempering of DIN 42CrMo4 materials: 1 - Hardening

Purpose: To obtain high strength and high hardness martensitic structure of steel through rapid cooling.

2 - Tempering

Purpose: Through tempering treatment, eliminate quenching stress, adjust hardness and toughness, and obtain the required comprehensive mechanical properties.

**Example process flow**

- **Heating**: Heat DIN 42CrMo4 materials to 860℃ and keep warm for 2 hours.

- **Quenching**: Quench in oil and cool to room temperature.

- **Tempering**: Heat the quenched steel to 580℃, keep warm for 2 hours, and then air cool to room temperature.

- **Test**: Test the hardness to ensure that it is between HRC 30 and 35; perform metallographic analysis to confirm that the structure is tempered troostite.

Through the above-mentioned quenching and tempering process, DIN 42CrMo4 materials can obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties and are suitable for manufacturing various mechanical parts with high strength and high toughness requirements.
