COMPANY PROFILE

Tecnocom was founded under the name of IB-Mei Española, in Madrid, April 11, 1967, with a 50% participation from Banco Urquijo and a Swiss society, owner of the company “IB-Mei Italia”, manufacturer of electrical motors for washing machines.
Beginning activities in rented industrial premises, while its a new facility was being constructed in the industrial complex of Móstoles (Madrid), Spain, IB-Mei Española continued with it's original activity of fabricating electrical motors. By the end of the 1970´s the company became fully-owned (100%) by Banco Urquijo.
Throughout the years, the company broadened its product line to include dishwasher pumps and automobile components in addition to washing machine motors and drain pumps.
During this same decade, the company consolidated its leading position in the market for electric motors becoming the first independent European manufacturer. Its principal customer base consisted of the main European electrical appliance makers.
In mid-1986, Banco Urqujo's parent company Banco Hispano, began a process of disinvestment in the industrial sector and a group of independent businessmen, led by Mr. Luis Solera, Tecnocom´s current President and CEO, acquired the company.
With this change in ownership and a public launch in April of the following year, the company changed its name to Corporación IB-MEI and began to diverisfy and intensify its activities.
The Corporation began a process of holding stocks in other companies with variable levels of participation. Targeted sectors were both within the traditional electrical appliances sector -Micromotor in Bilbao, Nuova IB-Mei; the original "IB-Mei Italia" in Italy); and outside- Zertan in Navarra, electronics and electrical material; Seinsa, real estate and Lain, construction, etc.
In 1998, the Corporación IB-MEI decided to disinvest its real estate and construction holdings and focus activity within the telecommunications sector. It was also decided at the same time to continue manufacturing electronic motors for appliances. In order to carry out its strategy in the telecommunications sector, Tecnocom acquired first a 75% and then a 100% stake in "Grupo Euroinsta". This group was made of different companies specializing in engineering and telecommunication systems as well as the design and instalation of mobile phones systems, and to a lesser degree, for fixed phone systems.
Not long afterwards, Euroinsta decided to enter into the business of design and manufacture of telecommunications towers and shelters. This decision afforded the company a greater independence and access to key customers such as operators and equipment suppliers as their turn-key solutions provider.
Following the Euroinsta acquisition, the company built two new electric motor manufacturing plants: one in Brasil (100% ownship), and one other in Jinan, China, with a local founding member, (JV majority company-owned).
In April of 2000, Corporación IB-Mei changed its name to TECNOCOM Telecomunicaciones y Energía, S.A. The brand name IB-MEI continues to be utilized for the electric motor manufacutring activities area and "Tecnocom" is now used to identify our business within the telecommunications sector.
In May, 2002, Tecnocom became part of the “Nuevo Mercado” Madrid Stock Exchange, and is one the founding companies of this index.
Today, Tecnocom is a benchmark company as telecomunications integration services.
