COMPANY PROFILE
The Israel Export Institute is the primary organization facilitating trade ties, joint ventures and strategic alliances between overseas businesses and Israeli companies. It promotes Israel's external trade through international initiatives, through exporters' service programs and through advising the government on trade issues.
The Institute is a non-profit organization, founded in 1958 as a "joint venture" between the Israeli government and the private sector to promote Israel's international trade. The IEI today comprises 2,600 member companies representing more than 90 percent of Israel's manufacturing exports, excluding defense and diamond exports.
The Institute is governed by a Board of Directors representing the Israel Manufacturers Association, the Kibbutz Industries Association, the Export Trading Companies of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, and member companies of the Institute. Board members serve a four-year term.
Executive responsibility for the Institute is in the hands of a Director General appointed by the Board of Directors. A professional staff of 100 implements Institute policy, and develops and manages its programs. Guidance is provided to the Institute by 18 volunteer public committees representing Israel's industrial sectors.
