1. HIGH CHROMIUM CASTING GRINDING BALLS:
STRUCTURE:
A high Cr cast iron of excellent resistant to wear in the mixture that consists of very hard eutectic carbide and a martensite base with granular secondary carbide deposited through the heat processing.
CHARACTERISTICS OF FG BALL'S QUALITY:
The reasons why FG balls are superior to universal high Cr balls both in wear resistance and in shock resistant are in general because of the following two points:
1.Metal mold casting allows the structure to be fine and uniform.
A great feature of metal mold casting is, as seen in the microstructure, the fact that the fast cooling speed allows the whole structure to be much more finer compared with that of a universal high Cr ball so that the structure of the FG balls is uniform from surface to central.
The fined structure has high mechanical strength, prevents the damage, detachment, etc. from occurring, and improves wear and shock resistance.
2.Special heat treatment allows the structure of the base to be super hard and rich in toughness.
Special heat treatment allows the FG ball to increase the precipitation of Cr carbides in the base structure compared with universal high Cr balls. In addition, special cooling installation allows the FG ball to be excellent in harden ability. Therefore the hardness of the base structure of the FG ball is higher compared with those of universal high Cr balls. As a result, the wear resistance of the FG ball is further improved.
Since FG balls are applied with special chilling technique, with dense microstructure, delicate crystalline grain, proper combined chemical composition and uniform hardness as well as excellent toughness. During working, the carbide bends constantly and inlays the ball, and then improves the wear-resistant property. After the ball is used for 500 hours, the hardness is increasing with average of HRC 3-5.
2. LOW CHROMIUM ALLOYED GRINDING BALLS
The physical properties of a cast alloy iron ball such as impact resistance and hardness are ensured by its chemical composition. Low Cr balls are made with the desirable combination of chemical components, and the carbon chrome contents are properly adjusted.
MICROSTRUCTURE:
The final from of microstructure in a cast alloy iron ball is also affected by its chemical composition. After pouring molten metal into the molds, we carefully control the rate of solidification and cooling to develop the most desirable structure. The micro-photograph of the low Cr cast iron ball shows that the very fine crystallized grains of pearlite are dispersed in a ledeburite structure that is composed of chrome cementite and austenite.
Low Cr balls manufactured by this process are provided with enough hardness and suitable toughness necessary for a grinding ball.
REMARKS:
Low Cr balls are manufactured by promoting toughness of the cast alloy iron and used on such wide applications as the industry of iron and nonferrous metal mines, coal mines, chemical, power plant and cement plant.
