Empower Training Services is the former training division of Powergen plc, one of the world's major private sector electricity and gas companies. In 2001 Empower became a separate company providing special training services to a wide range of customers nationally and intenationally.
Empower has many years of experience of designing and delivering training programmes for powerstation operational, maintenance and managerial staff. We also provide High Voltage network operation and maintenance training together with electricity distribution skills and health and safety programmes. In 2004 Empower was named by the Learning and Skills Council as the United Kingdom’s first Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for training in electrical power. As the only CoVE in the United Kingdom for the electrical power sector we have tremendous responsibility to work with existing and prospective customers to ensure that training programmes are developed to address skills issues.
Empower is based in a state of the art training centre in Nottingham, United Kingdom, which is centrally located and easily accessible by road, rail or air. The centre was completed in 2000 and boasts, coal/oil and CCGT plant simulators, live 11KV HV network together with extensive practical lecture rooms and workshop facilities.
Empower employ a number of full time technical trainers who are experts in their field and use highly qualified associates where specific technical areas are required.
Empower has a partnership with E.on's Power Technology Research & Development division for the supply of specialist engineering and consultancy.

superb.
In addition to over 20 fully equipped
training suites on two different purposebuilt
sites, we also have extensive
workshops and real-time control room
simulators which can be programmed to
mimic a wide range of plant.
A static, fully functional control room
simulator is supported by our revolutionary
soft-desk system. Completely portable,
this ‘Power Plant in a Box’ is the UK’s first
fossil-fired training simulator. Assembled in
just 30 minutes and extremely accurate,
the 660MV simulator can replicate 1000’s
of scenarios, anywhere in the world.
