Resin bound and resin bonded are two terms that describe different processes for installing driveways, parking areas and other external surfaces to commercial or domestic properties.
But what exactly do these terms mean and how do the two techniques differ? Understanding the different types of resin/aggregate driveway is important to ensure that you choose the right surface for your home or premises.
Resin Bound Surfaces
This technique utilises aggregates, recycled glass, artificial materials or marble and mixes them with a resin base.
The process of mixing resin together with the materials means that every surface of each individual piece of material is covered in resin.
This method has the advantage that, once dry, the covering remains permeable – allowing water to pass through it and limit the chance of pooling or flooding on larger sites.
